This is the first time I write my opinion about public facilities. Well, just a light review from my personal sight.
GAS STATION
Today, on my way to the office, I notice that the new gas station at Jl. Biliton is almost ready to operate. And I think it will be 24 hours. Hmm, I'm just wondering... including this gas station, there are a lot of gas stations in East Surabaya area. I mean... a lot, and their location are near to one another. I can even mention 6 of them, well, make it 5 coz one of them was closed (the one near "Ny. Suharti" restaurant).
Ok,this is the list of gas stations I know located in East Surabaya (as far as I know, of course):
1. The new gas station beside Adam Air (in front of Igor Pastry)
2. The a-lil-bit-new gas station near AJBS at Jl. Ratna
3. The also-quite-new gas station at Jl. Klampis Jaya (in front of "Barracks" multiplayers center)
4. The not-so-new gas station at Jl. Arief Rachman Hakim (beside "Regency 21" resendential
5. The renovated gas station at Jl. Dharmahusada Indah (in the corner, in front of BCA)
6. The much-older gas station at Jl. Ngagel (in the corner, on the way to "Uranus" Book Store)
7. The i-dunno-how-old gas station near "Manyar Jaya" Book Store at Jl. Ngangel also...
8. The big gas station at Jl. Dharmahusada beside Niaga bank
See? All of them are located quite near one another. Let's compare it with the gas station locations in the center of Surabaya. I once runned out of gas on my way to Plasa Tunjungan, but I hardly find any gas stations open. Most of the gas stations around that area are closed or something. In my area, West Surabaya, the gas stations are not scarce, yet they are not as many as in East Surabaya. I can list them too precisely in the same approximately distant:
1. 2 gas stations in Mayjend Sungkono (each in ever direction)
2. 2 gas station in Mayjend H.R. Mohammad (near Telkomsel Grapari and near "Uranus" Book Store)
3. The gas station that is almost finish near Pakuwon Trade Center
Hehehe, I can only listed 5. So I dunno if it's just my feeling that the gas stations are spreading faster in the East area, or simply coz it is :D The government do not pay attention much on location I think... while there are many areas that still need gas station; like Ahmad Yani for instance... or the center area.
SUPERMARKET
I have mentioned to Jus that I want to write something about HERO Supermarket. Yes, so consider this as a complain from a regular customer. You know, in the older days, HERO was not as big as it is today in my city. The brand had only had branches in Plasa Tunjungan and Galaxy Mall. And then its got bigger, opening branch at Jl. Mayjend Sungkono (which I think a very strategic plan, before Carrefour and Market Place were opened) . It got even bigger when it take over "Tops" branches all over Surabaya. I used to loove Tops, actually, I think the service were great and the items they sold were quite fresh. Well, before people realized it, they were already shopping in HERO, and not in TOPS anymore (what happened to TOPS anyway?).
Well, the closest supermarket from my house is TOPS H.R Mohammad. After it being taken by HERO, I still shop there many times. And I was "cheated" twice as far as I know. Cheated by the price misleadings. You know how HERO like to put their price tags on the shelf (NOT on each item) and put the special -cheaper- price on a piece of paper and stick it on the shelf (written with bold red marker)... Well, the price arrangement sucks! Sometimes I can't even tell which price that an item has. Ok, so I should ask, don't you think so? Well, I would if there are any HERO employees available. They are always busy doing their stuff, sometimes there are 3 people in the cashier. What is that for? While at every isle there is no one ready to help:/ And back to the price misleading, I was being mislead twice; once when I bought the M&M's chocolate. On the shelf was written Rp 3***, but when I got it listed on the cashier it said "Rp 45**" wow! And then I asked the cashier about the special price tag... and he only said calmly, "oh, the item is not a special item anymore. would you still buy it?" Duh! That's misleading! Why do you still put the special price tags? The same thing happened when I bought TOP chocolate and some biscuits. Grr! And they didn't even apologize... What kinda service is that? Maybe I should just consider shopping in "Bonnet" or "Market Place" or "Budget Family Store" inside Supermal... My mom never buy vegetables or fruits anymore in HERO, coz it sucks. She'd rather buy them from "Papaya" or "Market Place". And I agree. These days there are a lot of choices of supermarket... I think HERO should improve their quality if they still want to exist.
Kinda harsh, am I? Hmm, maybe it is just my PMS... :D -lol- Just joking... I had never blaimed my PMS for the things that I've said or done. I'm just moody. And right now, I just want to say something about public facilities.

TOPS' mother company is based in Holland and its called Ahold. It was reported suffering a big loss a couple of years ago and had to give up some of its brands to be aquired by other companies. jadi HERO yg ambil TOPS.
I see... I knew that HERO took over TOPS but I dunno that TOPS is a franchise brand from Holland. God to know:)
Yea, Vei, HERO Mayjend Sungkono and GM are ok, I guess. But the small branch in HR. Mohammad is very disorganized. Jangankan price checker, pegawai aja ngga ada yg stand by 8-| Fiuuh, maybe what made me upset was not the condition, but the way the employees responded to their absence. And they looked disturbed when I asked questions about price, or complain:/
