Weekeend Review: Celebrating New Year in Surabaya

So here I am again. Typing my blog using a friend's notebook. I'm planning to change my template soon, but I haven't had enough time to do it 'till now :( So as I'm trying to remember my last weekend in hometown Surabaya, just read along if you feel you won't get bored:D

Last days in 2005 were pretty hectic for me. I couldn't remember when the last time I got to bed early before 2 am in the morning. I mean... I know it's bad for ma health, but I cannot get rid the thinking that if I sleep too "early". I might end the day too fast and miss my spare time *sigh* Since I worked in advertising, I seem to treasure my spare time so much coz I rarely have it as much as I used to back in the old days. If in Surabaya, I can go home from work around 5-6 pm sharp; in Jakarta I cannot do that. I do have a more loose time table, but I often cannot leave office before my work is done. And then more overtime happened. Before I knew it, I'd already become the slave of advertising, and before I knew it too... I becoming less discipline about working with effective hours. Sometimes inspiration comes a bit late in the evening and I have to force myself to think harder. Well, it is not like a repetitive desk job which can be done precisely on time and as fast as you want it to be completed. But, hey, so far I'm still hang on to it:) And this weekend I am about to join in ad competition called "Young Guns" (a competition which intended for ad workers who still working in an ad agency for less than 4 years). Wish me luck:p

This is the beginning of my neverending exhaustion. I went home on Dec 28, after having my birthday a day before, and moved to the new dorm on the 26th. The next day, on the 29th, I had to woke up early in the morning (after sleeping only for about 5 hours) to picked up a car and picked up Keke at the airport. That was not her first time there, but I wanted to introduce her to some of my friends and colleagues. So we went to picked up Cimot and drove to alto's new headquarter near my residence, Darmo Permai. Everyone is kinda expecting us -yendy, jus, vanie, bo- and I'm glad I decided to spent my nu year with them. We were having lunch, and then walking around in Kolam Bebek, Pakuwon (accompanied by Adrian Liem, too). I drove Cimot back home, and drove crazily to picked up my sis back. We heading to her home and had dinner there. Keke spoke a lot about diving with my brother-in-law. Hohoho, and then I drove Keke to Stasiun Gubeng. Bener-bener capek, and I was glad I ended that day...

On the 30th, we watched a remake movie, "Kingkong". I guess Hollywood had runned out of ideas somehow that they releases many movies remake from years ago. Well, Kingkong was nice, but not as nice as I expected too... I just think the movie was entertaining enough coz of the disgusting special effect they made. You know... the cockroaches, dinosaurs, etc.
After that I went home and had special dinner party to celebrate my birthday with my family (mom, dad, sis, bro, aunts, in-law, cousins). It was modest, but decent; I enjoyed it very much. Well, the day passed by and me and my mum spent a nite at my sis' residence. You know, I think she ought to bring mum there some other time, coz she really enjoyed it.

It was on the 31st that I begun to spend whole two days with my ex-colleagues (and made my mum, actually, a bit dissapointed coz I didn't spent nu year with her...sorry mommy... hiks). My sis dropped me off at Jus before noon and I had lunch with her @ Galaxy Mal. Got to see the famous accessories store, "Strawberry", that ma friends said became booming quickly and keep draw teenage girls attention. Hmm, smells like a business opportunity...
I took a shower at Jus' house and headed to picked up Bo, before finally went to Vanie's place. We had to wait long enough for Lisa to arrived -______- and then had dinner together @ ikan bakar Cianjur. We slept at Vanie's mum dorm in Kendangsari (right in front of Sinar Jemursari supermarket). We had fun that nite (equiped with tons of food supply); watched DVD, exchange gifts and potluck, ate satay before the countdown (hahaha, mbabi tenan!), and playing firecrackers! We saved the biggest "mercon" for the last show... Fun! In addition, as always, we took pictures for memory. If I remember it right, last year we also spend nu year together in Vanie's place. The same exact place which had 2 labrador dogs (Lassie and Sheila)...hehehe... de ja vu... :) Thanx for the great times, guys! Thanx Vanie for letting us messing da house around...hahaha... Hari itu kita memang bawa terlalu banyak makanan deh.

Paginya Dinny datang... she will be in Sby until Jan 9 due to holiday and office task. Anyway, pagi itu aku benernya udah pengen pulang cepet karena migrain-ku kumat dan aku ngerasa kurang tidur bangets! Tapi anak-anak decided to go to TP first, karena ikut Yendy pulangnya...ya, ikut juga dehhh... Tapi ngga nyesel sih, karena ternyataaa... berkat ke TP ituuu... aku dapat... kacamata baru. Hurraaayyy!!! Akhirnya nemu juga yang cocok setelah nyari kesana-kemari :p I only bought the frame, and decided to buy the lens from Dinny's friend in Optik Cahaya- Supermal, the next day.

Monday: Meeting Santy, Lydia, and Like. Lydia went together with her boyfriend, Like with her new boyfriend, and Santy driving Jazz by herself and took me to shopped some "oleh-oleh".

Tuesday: Lunch with altoers @ Mimi. Decided to bought Jus' replacing camera, Canon A520, with a reasonable prize. Played Prince of Persia 3 and just spending my time at home ^___^

Wednesday: All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go... I have to bring along with me 1 HSBC hand suitcase, 1 cardboard full of bed cover, 1 handbag, 1 bag loaded with a pan of spikoek. Yaiks!! Thx God I made it. I went to the nearest Hero to buy cell pulse, go to ATM and duplicate my new room key. Aida and Lisa joined me in Juanda right before departure (Lisa will be staying with me for a couple of days). Sad news is... Aida's mom passed away the next day, Thursday, and Aida had to fly back to Surabaya asap. She was still crying when I called her on the phone. Be tough girl... Don't say that you don't have reasons to go back to your hometown anymore, ok... God has His own plans for you and your family.

Well, that's about it. My weekend in Surabaya, my meeting with friends and family, my luck in finding good stuff, my last activities before entering 2006... I hope this year brings its own pleasure and excitement. I hope we all may grow in maturity, and walk by God side by side. Most of all, I hope more people will get to know Jesus and find their sanctuary. I wish you all good luck.
