One thing I remember about this series is the catchy tunes from the opening title... lol... And I know I'm a little slow and a little behind... When it was played on cable TV for the first time, I didn't give it a lot of attention or interest, really. I just watched it at irregular times when I couldn't sleep and couldn't find a better channel (or too lazy to push the remote buttons... actually when I think of it... there are only 3 channels that I tune in to everyday: StarWorld, Discover T&L, CNBC. The channel options would expand during the weekends: SWorld, Disc T&L, Hallmark, E!, CNBC, MTV Asia, and Celestial) :p
Anyways, so I got interested in James Spader. This character of his, Alan Shore, is very... genuine. He's super smart (I mean both in thinking and talking), open-minded, cynical, but never take himself seriously. Through many of his closings, I found many interesting facts. Next thing I knew, I was in Ambassador mall, looking for the latest season.
Unlike with "Grey's Anatomy", which is like super crazy and fast and unstoppable desire, with BL (it's "Boston Legal", by the way) I'd like to take it slow. So, if I may conclude, with GA it was fast, on fire, but quickly reached the top and going downhill. I lost my interest, just like when I watched the fifth season of "Nip/Tuck" or the second season of "Heroes" or even worse, the first season of "Lost". I still keep the latest season of GA on my DVD rack totally abandoned. With BL, it's like trying to get to have a relationship and loving the person along the way... slow, easy, keep the mind open, and in the end, realizing that the love can actually grow :)
America is something. You can watch a late night show and frugally talk about your president in such a mocking way... or better yet, record your personal views on 65 mm film and spread your dogma to the audience. In Indonesia, you'd definitely get arrested and punished by the society for doing such thing (in the earliest regime, you'd get beaten up or killed). Through BL Season 3, we can hear several supports given to the running candidate, Barrack Obama. Lots of cynical -yet funny- comments were given to Hillary... lol... just watch the episode of "Tea and Sympathy" or the Guantanamo.
Andd... my favourite line would be, "Everyone in America can be President... except for Hillary. If she wins, I'd puke..." :D
