I went for a book shop at Plz Indonesia last nite. I had dinner at Sushi Tei (again) and then headed to Kinokuniya and Periplus. Got several books and quite happy with the discount. Apparently after I went to ak'sa'ra "clearance sale" at Plaza Indonesia and Pacific Place, I realized that they marked up the prices first before they put discount - same trick that has been used by Periplus (I can be sure of this cuz I was comparing the book price before and after the sale... the same book is more expensive Rp 10,000- 20,000). Huhuhu... 1/2 year ago I bought "Brida" for 195,000 (got more discount too after that!), but now the price is 225,000 (same publisher, same hard cover).
Anyways, I bought "JPod" for my hunny plus one book by Promoedya Ananta Toer for his grandpa. I hope he'll like it. I went home and did lots of effective things (including washing some clothes and calling my hunny)... hehehe...
And then I started to examined the books I've bought. I remember that I have bought several books few months ago and put them in my box somewhere without even read them. Well, I found those books (two of them are Paulo Coelho's), and got tempted to read them. I pick the thinnest one of all: The Valkyries. A story about his journey with his wife, in the middle of Mojave dessert. Valkyrie is one of the host of female figures in Norse mythology, who choose who will win or die in battle (according wiki). Interesting, huh? As a curious reader, I read along almost 70 pages in 2 hours... didn't realize that it was almost 2.30 am:p So, I'll continue my reading tonight. I will skip my TV routines and must finish the book tonight! Hehehe... I was interested by the statement about "second mind".... Hmm, never thought of that (although I would interpret it as "conscience"). Well, anyways, I wanna know more about it...
In 2009, a movie based on Paulo's book, Veronica Decides to Die, is going to be released. Sarah Michelle Gellar is going to be the main cast... interested? Here's the trailer.
Next book to read: "The Winner Stands Alone". You can visit his blog to read the first chapter. (Hmm, I find it a bit weird, if not irritating, that he wrote this kind of book. The plot seems predictable, and the background is almost like the choice that Candice Bushnell or Danielle Steel would pick you know... I dunno, what do you think?
