Personal Review: The Proposal (Touchstone Pictures 2009)

Sandra Bullock is back! This is one of the movie that instantly captured my attention, even though knowing it's just another romantic comedy with predictable ending. Well, it doesn't really matter, because after you watch this movie, you'd realize that it cannot fall into "Chick Flicks" category. Not saying that this is the best movie that Ms. Bullock had ever played, but definitely my choice for the best romantic comedy of this year. Well, okay, maybe I could change my mind later on, cuz I haven't seen some promising movies that will be released soon, including "(500) Days of Summer", "The Ugly Truth" *must watch-must watch-must watch*, and "I Love You, Man". But so far, this movie is far better than "The Confession of A Shopaholic" *crap*, "Bride Wars" *double crap!*, or "He's Just Not Into You" (which became a huge hit mainly cuz of the A-List stars). "The Proposal" felt more genuine and effortlessly funny. I had the chance to watch the premiere at Plaza Senayan Cinema XXI along with the other Cosmopolitan readers. Surprisingly, the audiences were not only females, but even guys *not necessarily gay* and middle-aged couples took the time to watch it in pairs.

There's a saying (well, maybe only in my country), "don't hate someone too much; it might turn into love". Well, that's exactly what happened in the movie. Ryan Reynolds *superr hot bod*
played as Andrew Paxton, an Alaskan who is working in NYC as an assistant of this Canadian editor, Margareth Tate *somehow the name sounds familiar*, a.k.a the witch, the beyotch, etc... In order to stay in US and keep her job, Margareth asks Andrew to cooperate with her and get married. The Department of Immigration cannot believe this sudden announcement, and decides to run a test to prove how well both of them know each other. Apparently, that weekend, Andrew's grandma is celebrating her 90th birthday in his hometown (grandma played by Betty White, who definitely doesn't look that old). Although the movie wasn't shooted in Sitka, Alaska, the settings are nice.

Watching this movie, I think Sandra Bullock definitely had mastered some "romantic" genre rules. I can still remember one of her movie, "While you were sleeping" was played on TV over and over (but I'd also watched it all over again). Her natural acting, combined with Ryan's innocent quirkiness, had made some disturbing faults along the movie unnoticeable. This movie taught us not to judge people by its cover, and it's true... Someone who looks strong unbreakable, might had gone several rocks and obsticles, which finally shaped them into a tough individual.

Btw, I also luurve the cutey white dog... Hihi, he made me smiled the whole movie. Oh, thanks to this movie, a non-fan of Canadian actor, Ryan Reynolds (yes, in reality he is a Canadian), would reconsider to see his next role as Deadpool (one of the characters in X-Men).

Ohoho...Here is the good one. I like to talk about MOVIE. Including a drama movie. But the question is, why I haven't watch The Proposal??

But The Ugly Truth is a good one, its funny when I see Mike and Abby become a friend.

Hi, ForWestInc., your english is perfectly fine. The Ugly Truth is quite funny and "brutal" *lols* but dunno why I like The Proposal better (maybe cuz it's heartwarming at the same time). Thx for visiting my blog.
