"World Cup" Lag*

What to do after World Cup 2010? As I found myself missing the games badly, I've captured these after-match trivia:

- Iker Casillas kissed Sara Carbonero openly on an interview held after the Spaniards received their first star. Sara is a sport reporter for Telecinco, who was the subject of blame for (the only) lost of La Roja against Swiss. By el beso, this emotional goal keeper wanted to express his feeling and kinda "mocked" the media for all those bad publicity about them. Well, bueno! Good for them :)
- Thomas Muller, David Villa, Wesley Sneijder, and Diego Forlan are all entitled to get The Golden Boot. They are the top scorer with five goals each. Muller was named the best youngster of this World Cup, and Diego Forlan got Adidas golden ball.
- Iker Casillas won Adidas Golden Glove, and now is demanded to fulfill his oath, either to marry his girl friend Sara, or to shave his hair. Let's see the result.
- Paul the psychic Octopus became the hottest octopus ever in the history of mankind. He was able to predict Spain's victory over Holland, and who knows what people would ask him to predict in the future? Hopefully they keep feeding him well in Oberhausen, Germany.
- South Africa felt the lost of harmony already. It is a common knowledge that racism is still a big issue in the region. The white and the black live in their own territory separately. Next, they hope to become the host of Summer Olympic.

Here's a quotation taken from Jakarta Globe, written by Katrin Figge:
"...But then again, every time a World Cup ends, it leaves behind quite a gap.

My personal retrospect of the 2010 World Cup: a horrendous lack of sleep resulting in weight loss (two kilograms, to be exact)**, three near heart attacks, an increased consumption of alcohol and thus an empty wallet, a devastating, hard-to-recover-from heartbreak, some deep frustration, boredom and out-of-control anger, but most of all, a lot of excitement, joy and happiness.

So, was it worth it? Yes!"

* Lag: fail to keep up or to fall behind.
** In my case the result was weight gain, due to midnight snacking & alcohol consumption -__-

I Got My Dream Final

Spain will meet Netherlands on World Cup final this weekend... What more could I ask for? I have never imagined that the Spaniards would finally prove themselves as winners. The better news was, this was the second time that they beat Germany! Viva la furia roja!

Spain's progress to their first World Cup final was seen by local media on Thursday as another vindication of their elegant brand of attacking football. Spain's asphyxiating grip on the game may have been down to their ball-playing 'artists' in midfield but it was the shaggy-haired, old warhorse Puyol who was the centre of attention in the papers and on the television news. The Barcelona centre back, 32, is better known for his last-ditch tackles, flailing locks and never-say-die spirit than for his scoring prowess. He had only netted twice in 88 internationals before popping up with Wednesday's vital goal. (- quoted from Reuters)

Not Even 2 Days, But I Miss 'Em Already

My fave teams (Spain, Netherlands, Paraguay) are still keep on going & becoming stronger! But amongst them, I hope that "La Furia Roja" would win the World Cup 2010. They have so many good players, perform beautiful play, committed so little offense (only one yellow card!), and are easy on the eyes :)

The good thing about loving Spain is that I don't have fave player (unlike Santa Cruz of Paraguay) and I can enjoy their game (although I often become a lill' inpatient when they started to play around in the field). For me, each player has their own quality; Casillas (of cuz), Villa, Pique, Puyol, Fabregas, Ramos, oh... and let's not forget, Torres :D
Great job, Spain! On the next match, I'll definitely put it on tape and enjoy it privately (by not joining "nonton bareng" anymore), because my two fave teams are gonna have a battle. May the best team win! (read an article from FIFA.com)
