Basketball: Hmmm...

I love sport. Everybody knows that. I've always enjoy sport and its adrenaline pump. There are some sports that has grown to become my fave ones, such as swimming, yoga, and ping-pong... and there are sports that I've always enjoyed watching (only), like soccer, tennis, or GP... but... there are also sports that I've never consider as alternatives or entertain me in such way. One of the sport in the last type is basketball.

the orange round-shaped ball

Basketball for me is a "cool-wannabe" sport. You know, the kind of sport that making you look good, funky, free, and stylish. I guess that influence got many impacts from US (NBA). You can see lots of lots celebrities attending basketball games, and you can see NBA players selling dream and showing off their hip style on TV commercials. Just by that, people automatically think of basketball as a cool game for cool free-minded people. U can just tell that the "aura" is way different than other more "conservative" sports; tennis, badminton, golf, etc.

Well, one of the advantages of this sport is: it is involving bare hands. The players would always feel the ball thru' the entire game.

Cliff took me to his last two basketball practices. I've never played basketball since... err, senior high? :p But urged by curiosity, I decided to join and try to see it myself. Well, what stays in my mind was the last one. We went to one small basketball area @ Kelapa Gading, where we met a group of young boys... eh, guys... playing with their own setted rules. One of the rules was each game ended after one team gained 7 points. Not the original basketball rules, of course. So, I juz sit there, observed around -like I always do-, and entertained my eyes with fun exciting games between one team and another. I'd never actually like the game... but at that time I realised something... these sport people are great! :)

I was invited to join in one game, and got introduced to some totally new persons. I thought I was somehow gonna feel awkward and left behind. U know, being the stupidest person (!) in the field that actually cannot dribble the orange ball in a right rhythmic way -omg-. I joined anyway, becoz... yeah... shirley won't back out on a new experience she hasn't tries. I did say I want to join, right? The game started. The people actually kinda tought me how to play, and they didn't ignore or underestimate me for being so lame at catching ball:D There was one "crucial" moment when a team member got stucked and throwed the ball at my direction... but I just let it flew and actually saw the ball pass my shoulder... omg... brilliant, shirley. U did an excellent job in humiliating yourself :D

But I didn't feel that way. They didn't make me feel that way:) And they're still welcoming me to play. Hahaha, padahal for a competitive soul like me... it does matter lho. I'm usually good in sport, and knowing that I need to learn basket more is kinda...challenging T T. Hehe, thx...thx people... I might not take basket as my fave sport, but I can see why you all love it... It's not just a game, right? And you guys play not to look good... U actually enjoy the bouncing and hopping *smile*

So, thx for allowing me to experience a nu thing. Lemme introduce you yoga ^^
